What Is a Dry Type fish feed pellet processing machine?
January 12, 2026
The core definition of a dry-type floating fish feed pellet making machine is: a feed extrusion device that requires no additional water. It is a specialized extrusion processing device for producing fish feed. Its core feature is that no additional water is added to the raw materials throughout the entire production process. It relies solely on the inherent moisture content of the raw materials (typically controlled at 10%-14%), using frictional heat generated by mechanical extrusion to melt, expand, and shape the raw materials. Compared to wet fish feed extruders, it eliminates the need for water supply devices, steam systems, and drying equipment, making it an integrated, compact extrusion device widely used by family fish farmers, small fish farms, and small to medium-sized feed processing plants.
Core working principle: Frictional heat-driven extrusion extrusion logic. The working principle of a dry-type fish feed making machine is consistent with that of a general extruder, both achieving feed processing through four core stages: "raw material conveying - compression melting - extrusion extrusion - shaping and discharge." However, it has unique features in terms of heat source and moisture control. First, raw materials (such as fishmeal, soybean meal, corn flour, etc.) enter the extrusion chamber through the feed hopper. The axial thrust generated by the high-speed rotation of the screw (300-400 r/min) propels the raw materials forward. Subsequently, the screw channel depth gradually decreases, and the raw materials are continuously compressed. Simultaneously, friction between the raw materials and the screw, the inner wall of the extrusion chamber, and the internal friction of the raw material particles generates a large amount of frictional heat, rapidly raising the raw material temperature to 120-160℃, achieving melting and plasticization. Next, the molten raw materials are pushed to the die head, where a high-pressure environment of 4-6 MPa is created due to the die head's aperture limitation. The pressure drops sharply the moment the raw materials are extruded from the die head, causing the internal moisture to vaporize instantly and the volume to expand rapidly, completing the puffing process. Finally, the puffed particles are cut into preset lengths by a cutting device and discharged directly (moisture content ≤12%) without additional drying.
Key Features: The core difference from wet puffing machines. The core advantage of "Dry fish feed production equipment" stems from its "no additional water replenishment" design. On the one hand, this simplifies the equipment structure and reduces procurement and operating costs; on the other hand, it avoids subsequent drying processes, improving production efficiency. The fish feed pellets produced by this machine are characterized by their compact structure, high hardness, and strong water resistance, making them suitable for bottom-dwelling fish (such as carp and grass carp). For example, when producing sinking feed for grass carp, the pellets produced by the dry extruder sink quickly and have a water resistance of 8-12 hours, which is far superior to the loose pellets produced by the wet extruder, effectively reducing feed waste and water pollution.
